Fundraising
Chapter 78 has a very successful fundraising profile and contributes thousands of dollars to the community every year. They also volunteer and participate in many community events.
Scholarships
The Chapter maintains several scholarship programs for the families of wounded veterans. There are also programs for combat-wounded veterans returning to the community that assist them in their readjustment to civilian life.

THE MILITARY ORDER OF THE PURPLE HEART
Chartered by an Act of Congress in 1958, The Military Order of the Purple Heart is composed of military men and women who received the Purple Heart Medal for wounds suffered in combat. Although our membership is restricted to the combat wounded, we support all veterans and their families with a myriad of nation-wide programs offered by Chapters and National Service Officers. Chapter 78 is involved in many of the Sonoma County Veteran Community programs to assist veterans and their familiesAll persons awarded the Purple Heart Medal by the United States government who are not dishonorably discharged are eligible for active membership in the Military Order of the Purple Heart of the USA.
